Introducing Loading Hollow Shotguns
I’ve been asked numerous times to compose an annotated edition of Hollow Shotguns. On giving it some think, I decided commentaries offer a cooler way to dispense details about the narrative to those craving it. Whereas an annotated cut would merely consist of flecks of dry text flanking the page, I feel commentaries can delve deeper into the narrative in a richer, more involving manner.
I intend these write-ups to echo those cool behind-the-scenes features and documentaries of films, albeit in purely text form. I really dig eyeballin’ the extras and listening to commentary tracks of movies, occasionally finding them more engrossing than the flick itself, so this is me attempting something similar with Hollow Shotguns.
Revisiting the work for the first time since its unleashing, it hit me that, man, I did some pretty insane shit with Hollow Shotguns. I’ll be dissecting some of this insaneness within these articles.
The first piece can be read here. These commentaries were originally supposed to be saved for compiling into a volume titled Loading Hollow Shotguns, or A Deconstruction of Hollow Shotguns, or something similarly all intelligent-sounding (I settled on Loading), but rather than waiting for all of them to be finished, collected and edited into a book, which could take eons, I’ve decided to publish each piece fresh onto this site once it’s done, to be perused for free as a humble thank you to the supporters of Hollow Shotguns.
Although in the future they will be recompiled into a book, all neatly structured by theme and so on, for now at least the words will lurk here, raw.
